Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to generate passwords in a browser?
Yes. This tool uses the browser crypto random generator and everything stays on your device. The password is never sent to any server or stored anywhere.
What makes a password strong?
Length and randomness. A 16-character random password with mixed character types is far harder to guess or crack than a short word-based one.
What are ambiguous characters?
Characters that look alike, such as lowercase l, uppercase I and the digit 1, or letter O and digit 0. Excluding them helps when you need to read or type the password.
How long should my password be?
For important accounts, 16 characters or more is a good target. Longer is better as long as you store it in a password manager.
Do you store the passwords I generate?
No. We cannot store them because they never leave your browser. Once you close the tab, the password is gone unless you copied it.
